We look at the seventh and final seal. There are seven trumpets that announce God’s judgment. The first four affect the earth and the following three affect people. Much of Revelation 8 and 9 could rightly be described as grim, but we have an enduring hope. God is in control and we are his people. The ultimate result of the judgment is Satan’s defeat, Christ’s victory and the culmination of what he achieved on the cross.

We look at what God’s will is for our lives while we wait and expect the judgment and joy to come. Even though these are grim chapters of judgment, they point to the coming restoration of the whole world. We begin in the midst of one of those somber chapters, Revelation 9.

Satan is the great accuser and Jesus is the glorious advocate. Jesus stands for humanity, inviting us to be overcomers, while Satan attacks humanity. He is the great enemy. Jesus is the savior, protector, and redeemer.

This parallels with the beasts in Revelation and the unholy trinity, designed to deceive humanity. We end with a hopeful look at the victory of God and His kingdom. We look at the seriousness of sin and the judgment it brings. But not everyone is eternally punished. Revelation talks about the glorious ending in store for the saints. This is a call to be faithful and obedient and to not fear death. “To live is Christ and to die is gain.” Chapter 15 focuses on the great victory. Tim examines why God pours out his wrath and what it takes to satisfy it. We begin in verse 8 of Revelation 14.

We continue to explore the wrath of God, moving onto chapter 16, which talks about the wrath of Satan, fornication, and sin. The beautiful hope is that we can be delivered from wrath as overcomers. We look at the first three bowls of wrath, what it means as they are poured out, and how we can overcome their dangers by remaining faithful to the gospel.

We jump in at verse 8 of Revelation 16 and examine the last four bowls of judgment. We walk through similarities between Revelation and the plagues in Egypt. We also talk about the battle of Armageddon. Tim continues to navigate the difficult imagery in this book, the completion of the wrath of God and the beautiful interjection of Christ in this story. The Gospel of Jesus Christ can assure us we are on the winning team.
